Explore the timing behind your plans.
Start PlanningHow do people choose auspicious dates?
For centuries, astrologers and farmers have offered guidance on when to begin things. This practice of choosing a moment, rather than reading a personality, is called electional astrology. Here is how these traditions think about timing, and how we use them.
Work backward in five steps
Start with the action
These traditions ask what you are doing first. Planting a garden and signing an agreement can call for different conditions.
Look at the Moon
Many folk rules use the Moon’s phase, such as whether it is growing or shrinking, and the zodiac sign it passes through.
Note the system
Astronomers track where the Moon actually is against the stars. Astrologers use signs measured from the seasons. The two no longer line up, so a date can differ between them, and we label which one we mean.
Check for cautions
Mercury retrograde is a period when Mercury appears to move backward from Earth. Astrological tradition advises care with agreements then, though no evidence shows it changes results.
Weigh it against real life
A favorable date is a preference, not a requirement. In Kairodo, your deadline always comes first.

Where people get stuck
A date can start to feel more important than the work. Timing here is optional, and most steps in a plan have no timing tradition at all. The steps you finish matter more than the day you start them.
